Flash Fiction is a participatory artwork that mimics the experience of getting a tattoo. A form of pretend play for all ages, Flash Fiction allows everyone to share in the creative world of tattoo culture and experience the process of tattooing without the needles and permanence of   genuine tattoo.

Participants pick out a design from the flash sheet to get their own real deal (temporary) tattoo. Celebrating the playful side of self-expression and tattoo culture.

Flash Fiction is an interactive art experience designed for arts festivals. In 2026, Flash Fiction tattooed participants in both Launceston’s Thoroughfare festival and Karratha’s Red Earth Arts Festival.
